Hope you all enjoyed Freshers week, and can't wait to get back to shooting now as term gets going. Here's the notices for this week:
1. Membership renewal
It's that time of year again where we ask for your money! If you intend on shooting this year, please fill out the attached membership form and return it to Grace McGee at Regent's Park College, or hand it to a committee member at a session. The form can also be found here.
These will be the experienced session times for the rest of term, unless otherwise stated:
Sunday 1700-1930 (Iffley - main hall)
Monday 1000-1200 (Iffley - main hall)
Tuesday 1300-1400 (Iffley - main hall)
Wednesday 2100-2230 (Iffley - cricket schools)
Thursday 1300-1400 (Iffley - main hall)
Saturday 1300-1530 (Iffley - cricket schools)
3. Novice coaching
We still really need volunteers to help coach the novices, these sessions won't be able to run properly without your input! If you've never coached before that's not an issue, it's simply teaching the basics for now, and on Sunday we've set aside a bit of time to give you some tips on how to do so, so please attend! The novice sessions this term are:
Tuesday 1400-1630 (Iffley - main hall)
Thursday 1400-1630 (Iffley - main hall)
Friday 0630-0830 (Iffley - main hall)
Initially only novices will be allowed to shoot at these sessions. If you're able to help, please put your name down on this spreadsheet, thanks!
4. Equipment cupboard
Before the session on Sunday we'll be sorting out the novice equipment cupboard in preparation for the sessions (making sure all the bows have the right parts etc), if you're able to come along and help with that, please do. We'll meet by the cupboard at Iffley at 3:30.
BUTTs Team Champs:
This is the first university competition of the year, and takes place on Sunday of 3rd week (27th October), in the run-up to the usual BUTTs league. The format is the same as BUTC, with an initial ranking round followed by hit and miss head to heads. We're able to enter 2 teams of 3 archers, with one alumni allowed per team. If you'd like to take part, please let Maddy know (
On Sunday of 5th week (10th November) we're hosting our leg of the BUTTs league. As usual, this will consist of a Portsmouth round, followed by results and a meal afterwards. If you'd like to enter, or will be available to help setup or help run things, again please let Maddy know, she'll be sending out an email with more details soon.
6. Business School have-a-go
On Friday 25th October we are holding another have-a-go at the Saïd Business School at Egrove Park from 2-5pm, so we need volunteers! For those of you who haven't been before, it mainly involves teaching a small group of people the basics of archery and running some small fun activities. Lunch (much endorsed by Timmins) is also on offer, if you don't mind turning up a bit earlier . If you'd like to help, just send an email my way, specifying whether you'd like lunch at the School or not.
